Nelson, Cary. “A Taxonomy of Antizionism”, Times of Israel, January 20, 2026. Accessed 6th May 2026, https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/a-taxonomy-of-antizionism/
Nelson created this 20 Points Taxonomy in response to what he sees so clearly as a growing academic community devoted to studying the antisemitic consequences of antiZionism. His taxonomy makes abundantly clear the three most often quoted antizionist myths: the first being, “the insistence that Palestinians are the only true indigenous residents of the area from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River and beyond. It is based on the lie that the Jews have not had a substantial presence in the region either in the ancient world nor in the post-Roman era.” The second myth is the insistence that “contemporary antizionism is entirely distinct from and unrelated to antisemitism” which is blatantly false. The third myth being that there is an unbroken line between several antizionisms through today’s version. Nelson states unequivocally that after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 there was a complete break with the antizionism from beforehand. In commenting on the corruption of the Academy, he sees faculty as at the vanguard of efforts to elaborate, rationalize, and openly use antizionist arguments. … and…this has caused antizionist activism to become the core commitment of the contemporary left.
